More from Out in the Blog World

We happened across a posting from a Seattle-area teen librarian on her blog interactivereader that included a discussion of the frustrations of looking for "compelling teen novels featuring Native American girls". One of the comments on this post was from Cynthia Leitich Smith, Muskogee (Creek) Nation author of books for young people, and she reminded readers of lists she offers from her web page of titles on Native American Themes in Children and Young Adult Books. (Click in the sidebar to pull up the lists).

We already have a lot of these books, as we used her lists when we were ordering during the period of the big IMLS grant. But they are worth looking at if only because they make the books sound so good. :-)

Speaking of ordering, we are getting ready to order the next batch of titles from the grant from New Mexico Community Foundation and the Kathryn Avenue Fund. Please let us have your suggestions. ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT. Requests have priority, and we will get it if we can.
